Pedestrian Crash near San Gabriel Road Resulted in Fatality

ATASCADERO, CA (March 5, 2024) – A man was struck and killed in a pedestrian accident on El Camino Real last Friday evening. 

Authorities were called to the tragic incident at approximately 8:30 p.m. along El Camino Real, near the San Gabriel Road intersection.

Upon their arrival, officers discovered a man with fatal injuries. Despite the immediate life-saving efforts by first responders, the man succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

As of now, the identity of the deceased victim has not been disclosed to the public, pending notification to the next of kin.

Following the incident, El Camino Real was temporarily closed for a duration of at least two hours to facilitate investigations and scene documentation. Authorities have ruled out drugs or alcohol as contributing factors to the incident.

A segment of the roadway was temporarily shut down to accommodate cleanup and preliminary procedures. However, the highway has since been reopened.
