Male Passenger Killed in Wrong-Way Collision near Hoxie Ranch Road
BONSALL, CA (March 27, 2024) – Janely Magali Bautista was arrested late Sunday evening after a fatal DUI car crash on Gopher Canyon and Hoxie Ranch Road. The incident occurred at approximately 11:24 p.m.
Investigators reported that the driver of an eastbound brown Chevrolet Silverado swerved into the westbound lanes, resulting in a collision with a Toyota Camry traveling in the opposite direction. As a result of the accident, one male victim succumbed to severe injuries, as pronounced by medics.
Additionally, medics transported a 51-year-old woman from Vista, who was driving the Camry, along with her 52-year-old male passenger to a hospital for treatment. After fulfilling preliminary responsibilities, law enforcement arrested the Silverado driver, identified as 29-year-old Janely Magali Bautista of Valley Center, on charges of gross vehicular manslaughter and felony DUI.
Authorities from Bonsall closed both lanes of Gopher Canyon Road for further investigation. Witnesses of the DUI crash are urged to contact the CHP Oceanside office at 760-643-3400. At this time, an active investigation is still currently underway to uncover additional details.
