23-Year-Old Man Pronounced Dead after Multi-Vehicle Crash near Topanga Canyon Boulevard

LOS ANGELES, CA (January 10, 2024) – One man died Monday morning in a box-truck crash on 118 Freeway. The incident occurred at approximately 8:45 a.m., near Topanga Canyon Boulevard.

A Penske rental box truck’s windshield was shattered when lumber from a flatbed truck crashed into it, leading to fatal injuries for the 23-year-old male box-truck driver, who died at the scene.

Paramedics also transported the lumber truck driver to a local hospital to address moderate injuries. An SUV was also involved in the incident, but no additional injuries were reported.

Preliminary investigations indicate that speed played a role in the collision. The 118 Freeway’s lanes were reopened by Los Angeles Officials at approximately 12:15 p.m. Further details will be disclosed as they become available.
