Man Pronounced Dead after Stolen-Vehicle Accident near Walgrove Way

SAN JOSE, CA (September 6, 2023) – Early Sunday morning, one man was fatally struck in a pedestrian collision on Winchester Boulevard.

Officers responded to the scene around 3:22 a.m., near Walgrove Way.

Per reports, the driver of a northbound 2019 Hyundai SUV left the roadway and struck a man who was walking on the sidewalk. The male suspect, described as a juvenile, then crashed into a tree.

First responders arrived and declared the male pedestrian dead at the scene. Although, authorities have not yet released his identity.

Emergency crews closed off the surrounding area for a brief time during cleanup and preliminary operations. Following preliminary duties, officers arrested the Hyundai driver who was operating a stolen vehicle.
