Male Pedestrian Pronounced Dead after Semi-Truck Crash near King Road

PLACER COUNTY, CA (March 28, 2024) – One man died Wednesday afternoon in a pedestrian collision on westbound Interstate 80. The incident occurred at approximately 1:00 p.m., just west of King Road.

As per reports, the driver of a Toyota pickup truck came to a stop on the right shoulder of the freeway. Soon after, the driver exited the vehicle and ran into the lanes, where they were struck by a passing semi-truck. The impact pushed the victim into the No. 2 lane.
 
Emergency responders pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene. Meanwhile, the driver of the semi-truck pulled over to the right shoulder and fully cooperated with the investigation. Law enforcement authorities have ruled out drugs or alcohol as factors in the collision.
 
Currently, the identity of the deceased individual has not been disclosed to the public, pending notification of next of kin. Placer County Officials will release further details regarding the fatal Interstate 80 pedestrian accident as they become available.
