The so-called Hollywood body parts case from early this year has produced no arrests and few headlines in subsequent months.

The head, hands and feet of 66-year-old Hervey Medellin were found Jan. 17 near the Hollywood sign. His apartment was searched, his roommate was questioned, and false reports of an arrest circulated. It turned out that a boyfriend had reported him missing.

Then the case died. Now at least one outlet as asking:

Could Luka Magnotta, the onetime porn star based in L.A. and arrested in Paris Berlin after allegedly killing and dismembering a Montreal man (and posting a video of some of it), be connected to the Medellin case?

The New York Observer:

Magnotta.

Magnotta.

The Observer has uncovered information that could potentially link Mr. Magnotta to an infamous case from earlier this year where the severed head and hands of a man were found on a wooded trail near the Hollywood sign.

Yeah.

The evidence is compelling but, so far, thin. The site notes that Magnotta might have used the moniker HollywoodLoveLetters in making YouTube posts and comments on Magnotta's purported videos.

The Observer notes that he was in L.A. in February, apparently offering male massage services under a 310 phone number:

In addition to the YouTube activity and the obvious similarities in the methodology of the Jun killing and the Hollywood Sign murder, which both involved severed body parts placed in prominent locations, Facebook postings on one of the many accounts attributed to Mr. Magnotta indicate he was in Los Angeles less than one month after the Hollywood Sign killing.
