58-Year-Old Woman Pronounced Dead after Semi-Truck Accident near Highway 37

ATASCOSA COUNTY, TX (March 25, 2024)Lucinda McKennon Cochran died Wednesday morning in a big-rig collision on State Highway 97 near Highway 37. Police officers responded to the scene around 9:20 a.m., on March 13th.

Investigation is underway to determine the cause, as 58-year-old Cochran drove a blue Honda Fit and disregarded a stop sign, leading to a collision with an 18-wheeler truck. The impact sent the truck into an embankment nearby.

Paramedics rushed the male driver of the semi-truck to University Hospital for treatment of minor injuries, while Cochran was pronounced deceased at the scene by medics.

Emergency crews temporarily closed off the vicinity for cleanup and initial tasks. Additional information will be shared as it becomes available.
