Independent alternative music artist X Li from Los Angeles has made history in the web3 space with his debut NFT single, “Think I’m In Love With You,” from the project “California Love Stories.” Within just 24 hours of release, the track sold 1,800 mints and raised an impressive 9 ETH, surpassing Snoop Dogg’s sales and becoming the best-selling track of the month on Sound.xyz, the world’s largest NFT music platform.
X Li’s success led him to top the Sound.xyz charts as the best-selling artist of the week and month in both mint quantity and total sales. This achievement marks the first time an alternative music artist has reached the number one spot on this prestigious platform. The artist, known for previous collaborations with major companies such as Sony Music Entertainment, Dolby Laboratories, and ByteDance, has successfully transitioned into the NFT music world. His recent achievements include ranking fourth of all time and securing the number one position in the first week for his first music video NFT drop on Glass.xyz, the largest video NFT platform.
“Think I’m In Love With You” tells the story of X Li’s chance encounter with a girl at an after-party near Melrose Avenue, where they fell in love at first sight. The project is a collection of love stories set in different parts of California that capture a range of emotions, including sadness, heartbreak, joy, tragedy, anger, and longing. These emotions are brought to life through stunning digital artworks, created by New York-based artist Farrah Fisher, that come in various colors symbolizing the emotions explored in the music.
The project features a live band performance with fully handcrafted instruments, seamlessly blending popular, punk, classic rock, hip-hop, R&B, and electronic music elements. Produced by a team of renowned music producers, including platinum record producer James Chul Rim, the project also features a talented lineup of musicians such as Simone Sello and Edoardo Tancredi.
The sound quality is attributed to the talents of Lukas Cuman and Gavin Lurssen, who have worked with artists such as Ed Sheeran, Bebe Rexha, and Ultimo, as well as on film soundtracks for Game of Thrones, The Mandalorian, Mulan, Captain Marvel, Black Panther, The Hunger Games, and Westworld.
