The film follows a group of young urban explorers who venture into New Jersey’s abandoned Paragon Hotel seeking a legendary gangster’s missing $300 million fortune, only to encounter hostile rivals and supernatural forces. The story centers on thrill-seeking urban explorers known as the Creepers, who livestream their adventures from abandoned locations. Their venture into the notorious Paragon Hotel becomes a fight for survival against both human adversaries and supernatural entities.

Written by Stephen Susco and produced by former Geffen Records President Jordan Schur, the project is based on David Morrell’s bestselling novel “Creepers.”

Adeline Rudolph leads the cast as Diane. Known for Netflix’s “The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina” and upcoming Warner Bros.’ “Mortal Kombat” sequel, Rudolph is also set to star in Sony’s Marvel series “Silk.” Nicholas Hamilton, who terrified audiences as Henry Bowers in the $1.2 billion “IT” franchise, plays Tod. The 22-year-old Australian actor recently completed Amazon’s “The Pradeeps of Pittsburgh” and “Gen V.”

Francesca Reale of Netflix’s “Stranger Things” portrays Cora, while Jake Manley, star of Netflix’s “The Order” and the hit film “Holidate,” takes on Rick. Laurence O’Fourain from HBO’s “Game of Thrones” and Netflix’s “The Witcher: Blood Origin” plays Frank Balenger.

The ensemble also includes Kai Caster from Paramount+’s “Yellowstone” as JD, Shane Paul McGhie from the Emmy-nominated “Unbelievable” as Vernon, and Brennan Keel Cook from “The Pale Blue Eye” as Mack. Horror veteran Javier Botet, known for creature work in “IT,” “The Conjuring,” and “Insidious,” portrays the Pale Creature.

Jordan Schur, Chairman and CEO of Suretone Pictures, said the project represents a decade of development. “We have arrived at our destination with a powerful script adapted from a timeless book and a gifted director leading the charge,” Schur stated. “We could not ask for a better partner in Lionsgate.”

Eda Kowan, Lionsgate’s Executive Vice President of Acquisitions, added: “We are excited to work with Jordan and the team at Suretone along with music video director Marc Klasfeld to bring this supernatural adventure thriller to audiences everywhere.”

“I have waited decades to find the right feature film project to which I could truly dedicate myself,” said Klasfeld, whose music video credits include Lady Gaga, Jay-Z, Beyoncé, and Eminem. His “See You Again” video with Wiz Khalifa and Charlie Puth ranks as YouTube’s fifth most-viewed with 5.5 billion views.

Schur’s producing credits include “Stone” starring Robert De Niro and Edward Norton, “Henry’s Crime” with Keanu Reeves, and “Warrior” featuring Tom Hardy, which earned an Oscar nomination for Nick Nolte. The project was cast by veteran casting directors Mary Vernieu and Raylin Sabo.

The collaboration builds on Suretone Pictures and Lionsgate’s previous partnerships, including “The Kid” starring Ethan Hawke and Chris Pratt.

The film promises to blend found-footage horror elements with traditional thriller components, capitalizing on the popularity of urban exploration content across social media platforms.

The project arrives as horror films continue dominating box office discussions, content creator collectives influence millions of people, and the real-world thrills of urban exploration content exhilarate both doomscrollers and adrenaline junkies.

At a time when social media content houses are becoming documentary subjects and AI blurs the boundaries of reality, a feature blending found footage with livestreaming offers a unique and human story eerily close to their daily lives.

Release date has yet to be announced.
