Time to start planning those costumes, nightcrawlers. The wicked weekend before Halloween weekend is here. There are nearly as many things to do as there are sexy-scary getups to wear. But which ones? Here, our picks for freakiest, most fun fetes.

Fri., Oct. 21

A night of satanic silliness and mauling mayhem, Subversion features awesome shlock rock from Rosemary's Billygoat and Peppermint Pumpkin, plus dark and demented sounds from DJ F-Boy (Fangs On Fur) and ravaging residents Comrade Stallen & Wesley Derave. Creepy costume contest at midnight and sideshow skits. 1840 Glendale Blvd. Facebook invite here.

You might assume the night will end horrifically ever after at F*cked up Fairy Tales a gathering featuring performance art and twisted tales but it won't. Dancing and merriment ensues afterward with wicked good DJs. Musician Tomek Fior, storyteller Rebecca Martin, dancer Leopold Nu Nan and APT 3F's “deviant mastermind” David LeBarron will be on hand for this eerie edition. At Akbar, 4356 Sunset Blvd. Silver Lake. www.akbarsilverlake.com.

Shiny, vampy (beautiful) people should hit up Club Plastic, which boasts Marilyn Manson's Twiggy Ramirez and Fred Sablan spinning a dark web of tunes. The birthday party and live music mash will also offer sets by Nothing Sacred, Nasty Souls, Zachary James & The All Seeing Eyes, Warner Drive, plus additional and DJ set by Scott Savak. Go-go ghouls and pole pretties, too. At On The Rox, 9009 Sunset Blvd. (above the Roxy) www.theroxyonsunset.com.

Sat., Oct. 22

Club Banshee screams into Halloween with Night Horrors, a costume ball and dance party. In “the mausoleum,” a trilogy to rock terrors will devour the dance set including Hell & Lula, Kate Crash and The BlackOuts. Floor freakin' gets fierce when DJ That Girl Carol, DJ Eser, Scott Savak (again!) and Jose Shuton take possession of the decks. “Topless fire-breathing dancers, killer props, creepy ice-scream truck with killer clown servers,” vampy vendors and more. At Medusa Lounge, 3211 Beverly Boulevard. www.medusalounge.com.

Few shindiggers do thematic dress up like Studio 69, so the collective's Halloween extravaganza will surely be one of the most spectacular in town. Expect a psycho circus at their “Klownoween Party,” which moves to a brand new warehouse downtown for the occasion. Dubstep, electro & breaks provided by Dumbsteppaz w/ Agez, Rudelgin, Lea Luna, Schlauting Thomas, The Slutz Crew and many more. Circus performers, sexy go-gos, face and body painters, photobooths and an adult-sized bouncey house are promised. Patrons must become 69 members to attend. Presale $15 memberships available here. Mark Farina sprouts up again with his Mushroom Jazzmatazz at a new monthly Saturday from Auburn Events and Homemade LA. Soul and Tonic features top notch DJs for house heads. Sonny Fodera joins Farina for the club's debut. It's also Aussie Fodera's first time spinning in the U.S. At Dim Mak Studios (formerly Cinespace), 6356 Hollywood Blvd. Hollywood.
