Summer sure flew by, didn't it? Labor Day may not mark the end of shaking and baking in the sunshine, or sweating it up in the clubs, but it offers up an an excuse to over-do it one last time before (some of us) go back to school. This week's best offerings include pool parties, goth haunts, queen scenes and retro ragers.

Fri., Sept. 2

Club Underground breaks new ground at the Grand Star in Chinatown this week. The indie dance party — which began at Tempest and enjoyed a healthy reign at The Echo — should be a great fit at the new venue, what with its cool light-up dance floor and cozy hangout crevices. DJ/host Larry G promises lots of goodies and surprises. Live bands upstairs will include Sweater Girls and Eureka, CA. DJs G, Diana M., Clifton Weaver, and Modern Brit spin Brit pop, indie, dance pop and more. Grand Star Jazz Club, 943 N. Broadway. Chinatown. Info on Underground's blog.

Industrial gloomsters aren't exactly the types to break out summer whites, but they will at Das Bunker's annual “End of Summer White Party.” Considering that it's flipping the frock rockin' on DB's usual sea of darkness, this one should be a site to behold. Rest assured, however, that the sounds will still be ominous and aggressive as always. At the Catch One, 4067 W Pico Blvd. www.dasbunker.org

Sat., Sept. 3

Swimming with Sharks takes its final bite out of summer with a big bash featuring DJs from Team Obey. Pube$ are on the bill, and here's hoping DJ Diabetic (aka Shepard Fairey) takes to the decks as well. More to be announced. At the Standard Downtown, 660 Flower St. www.swimmingwsharks.com/la

It's the old school vs. the new school at Helter Skelter, which means ominous sounds ranging from death rock to ethereal to post-punk to EBM. Expect unadulterated dark drama on the decks, as well as Skelter's famed dance denizens. At the Dragonfly, 6510 Santa Monica Blvd., Hollywood. www.evilclubempire.com

Sunday events below.

Sun., Sept. 4

The Standard Downtown is the place to be during the daylight once again, as Disco Dive offers pool partying at its most decadent. DJ Harvey (of “Harvey Sarcastic Disco” warehouse party infamy) will spin bombastic breaks and beats, along with Scott K, DJ Victor Rodriguez and others. Free Jello shots, water guns, drink specials and more. At the Standard Downtown, 660 Flower St. Tix here.

After an extended absence, crazy '80s cover band The Spazmatics return to their original rockin' home, the Dragonfly, and let's just say that if you've never seen them play, you are in for spazzy treat. This is a dance party as much as a live show, with DJ John Lock spinning '80s, rock, hip-hop, pop and house before and after the band. 6510 Santa Monica Blvd. Hollywood. www.thedragonfly.com

Trannyshack LA is back to “werk it” for Labor Day weekend. Sleazy dance mixes from David Banjela and Hotne$$A. At The Echoplex, 1154 Glendale Blvd. Echo Park. www.trannyshack.com
