Founded in 2017 by artist Kari Dern while living in Manhattan, Become Spellbound has become known for crystal and fossil jewelry that blurs the lines between art and adornment. Since its inception, Dern has created and sold over 2000 one-of-a-kind, handmade pieces of wearable art. After following their journey on social media for so many years, Dern was ecstatic when the retail store for Rock Paradise had its grand opening in 2019. It was an exciting new incarnation of the beloved business and became a dream crystal shop to visit one day; a bucket-list fantasy for the crystal obsessed!
As it turns out, the owners of Rock Paradise are also long-time fans of Become Spellbound from Instagram, and as fate would have it, the opportunity to work together became clear upon first discussions. Both parties immediately realized they both have the same hard work ethos, all-in mentality, and passion required to manifest a singular vision. Working together was a natural next step!

When asked how each company made a name for themselves in the industry, both had plenty of insights to share. For Kari Dern of Become Spellbound, she said, “It took a lot of hard work, consistency, tenacity and putting in the time. Hand crafting so many pieces that are all full of love and passion. Honing aesthetic with a focus on big and bold pieces that you won’t see anywhere else. Countless hours invested in utilizing social media to grow our online presence!”
On how they became the go-to crystal wholesalers, Rock Paradise explains: “It was becoming known for curating high-quality, ethical, crystal products from around the world. Leveraging social media proved to be a strong point, particularly as the store was being built out, allowing the future customer to see the process from beginning to end.”
