As part of the L.A. County Museum of Art's efforts to channel community concern over its financially threatened film program into needed hard cash, the museum has set up a membership organization called the CineClub. According to a statement issued today, Angelenos who add an extra $50 to any level of their LACMA memberships “will help support film events, outreach, and efforts to increase overall awareness for the program.” And they'll get priority ticketing and seating at film events. This basically means LACMA is a short distance closer to holding onto its weekend-screening series.

Last week LACMA announced twin grants to its film program totaling $150,000 from the Hollywood Foreign Film Association and Time-Warner Cable/Ovation TV.
