This LA Weekly Flickr pool photo, taken by photographer averagebetty, is of a lovely gratin made with Russet potatoes, Asiago cheese and a handful of cranberries. (The recipe and the video are on her blog.) Looks very festive and holiday-ish, doesn't it? The leaves are seasonally appropriate, not only for whichever available holiday you're celebrating, but for the leaves themselves — fallen leaves being our version of fresh snowfall. And with the number of them still in piles, blown by the recent wild Santa Anas, you won't have any trouble finding something to decorate your table. A reminder that if you have any brilliant shots of food you've taken around town recently, you might consider uploading them on our Flickr pool. Never know where they might show up.
