Updated at the bottom with new details from the District Attorney's office, including allegations that Sanchez offered forgiveness for sex. First posted at 7:05 a.m.

Your worst cop nightmare has taken the form of an L.A. County Sheriff's Deputy. At least if what his fellow law enforcers say is true:

Twenty-eight-year-old Jose Rigaberto Sanchez was arrested late yesterday following a more than two-year investigation into 2010 cases in which he was alleged to have raped someone and solicited bribes while on-duty:

At 5:30 p.m. yesterday Sanchez was arrested without incident at his home by investigators with the sheriff's Internal Criminal Investigations Bureau (ICIB) on suspicion of 11 counts, deputies stated, including …

… penetration under the color of authority, rape under fear or duress, and soliciting a bribe from alleged victims.

Sanchez was relieved of duty with pay after the allegations first arose in 2010, the sheriff's department states. But yesterday he was fired.

He was booked at the sheriff's Santa Clarita Valley station, according to the department's inmate data, and he was being held in lieu of $1.45 million bail.

The department says he's been employed as a deputy for seven years and was last assigned to the Palmdale station. An informant helped detectives kick off the six-month investigation that led to Sanchez's arrest, deputies said.

Deputies say the L.A. County District Attorney's office has been aware of the case since 2011. It appears Sanchez has been charged as well as arrested.

Sanchez is due in Superior Court downtown on Wednesday at 8:30 a.m.

[Update at 11:54 a.m.]: The District Attorney's office this morning revealed some details about the allegations.

Prosecutors say that on Sept. 22, 2010, while on-duty in Palmdale, the deputy pulled over a woman and offered not to arrest her on an outstanding warrant in exchange for sex.

Then, two nights later, Sanchez allegedly did the same with a woman he accused of drunk driving. The D.A.'s statement:

… He pulled over another female on suspicion of DUI and allegedly solicited a bribe in the form of sexual activity.

The 11 counts filed against Sanchez include, the office says, …

… soliciting a bribe, kidnapping to commit another crime, rape by fear or duress and multiple counts of sexual assault under color of authority.
