Los Angeles police have been the target of gunfire, rocks and bottles and endless brawlers.

But last night cops patrolling Boyle Heights came under attack by … a man with a paintball gun. Officers were not hit, but the alleged genius with the pretty colors was put inside a cell, a Los Angeles Police Department official said.

It happened about 9:35 p.m. …

… in the 3100 block of Fairmount Street in Boyle Heights, police said. The cops were on an unrelated call when they were targeted by paintball rounds, according to a sergeant.

At first the officers weren't sure what was happening. They “felt they were being fired upon,” the sarge said.

The shooter apparently had bad aim, though, as neither the cops nor their car was hit.

The suspect was arrested, of course. So, as always, don't try this at home, kids.
