The death of North Korean dictator Kim Jong Il was met with calls for celebration in L.A.'s Koreatown tonight.

Commenters on the Facebook page KoreatownLA called for “PARTAAAAAAY!!!!!!” and “Celebration” in reaction to the news, even as Associated Press reported that his twentysomething son Kim Jong Un was being hailed by officials as the “great successor.”

The Twitter account KoreatownLA urged people to partake of Korea's potent rice-and-potato wine:

All is well, people… Contrary to reports, there is NO shortage of soju in Koreatown after the announcement of Kim Jong-il's death!

The account holder suggested, “May mean we have to brace for an influx of North Korean immigrants next year …,” and retweeted:

Massive increase in demand for Kim Jong-il pinatas, for “Kim Jong-il Is Dead!” parties …
