41-Year-Old Tijuana Man Arrested after Solo-Vehicle Crash near Crag View Drive
CASTELLA, CA (March 28, 2024) – Jose Sanchez Del Valle was arrested early Friday after a fatal car accident on southbound Interstate 5. The incident occurred at approximately 5:20 a.m., just south of Crag View Drive.
Reports indicate that Valle, driving a Volkswagen Crafter van, executed an unsafe right turn, causing the van to veer off the road. The van then collided with multiple trees before halting. The force of the impact threw the driver onto the road, who then attempted to flee.
Emergency medical responders transported at least 17 passengers to a nearby hospital for treatment. However, one of the passengers, a 37-year-old man from Saucillo, Chihuahua, succumbed to his injuries. Investigators noted that none of the passengers were wearing seat belts during the incident.
After fulfilling preliminary responsibilities, authorities apprehended the van’s driver, identified as 41-year-old Jose Sanchez Del Valle from Tijuana, Baja California. Further details will be provided as they become available.
