21-Year-Old Man Dies in Auto Collision near Carthage

PANOLA COUNTY, TX (January 11, 2024) – James Browning died early Friday morning in a 2-car crash on Highway 59 just one mile north of Carthage.

At approximately 12:13 a.m., law enforcement arrived at the location situated just a mile north of Carthage. Reportedly, the driver of a 2009 Nissan Murano was traveling in the wrong direction in the northbound lanes. Consequently, the Nissan collided with a northbound 2021 Kenworth towing double trailers.

Given the severity of the injuries, emergency medical personnel declared 21-year-old Browning of Marshall deceased at the scene. Presently, an ongoing investigation is actively seeking additional information. Further details will be disclosed once they become available.
