WCS's Drew Tewksbury did a great job last month commemorating the 4th anniversary of the death of J. Dilla (aka Jay Dee, James Yancey), the much-beloved, universally respected hip-hop producer and beatmaker.

Over the last month, the three different parts of a moving documentary about Dilla have been posted on the internet. The project is connected to clothing manufacturer Stussy's recent limited-edition J. Dilla t-shirt produced in conjunction with LA's Stones Throw and the late musician's estate.

Here's a reminder of why this Angeleno-Detroiter was heralded by everyone as someone really special–we once even heard hard-to-impress, heard-it-all New England noise musicians sing Dilla's praises!. It's also a useful introduction for those who've heard about his work and want to know what the deal was, and keeps being.
