Pedestrian-Auto Collision Near Jibboom Street Left Woman Dead and Three Others Injured

SACRAMENTO, CA (July 12, 2023) Sunday evening, a fatal DUI crash on Richards Boulevard involving two children, led to the arrest of Israel Campos. Officers responded to the deadly collision around 6:30 p.m. near Richards Boulevard and Jibboom Street in downtown Sacramento. Upon arrival, authorities discovered two juveniles and one adult with major injuries. Medical responders rushed all three patients to an area hospital, where they remain in critical condition. Tragically, a 38-year-old female pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office is expected to release her name once they have notified the next of kin. On Monday, officials announced the arrest of 27-year-old Israel Campos for suspected felony DUI and gross vehicular manslaughter. The Sacramento Police Major Collision Investigations Unit continues to investigate the fatal crash.
