Introducing Interwoven Studios | CULVER CITY

This summer, Interwoven Studios, the LA-based multi-media production agency and boutique studio operator, opened “Interwoven Studios | CULVER CITY,” the company’s second Los Angeles production studio location.

Built to accommodate production teams of all shapes and sizes, the new 7,000 square-foot creative space features one oversized white cyc stage (35′ x 30′ x 15′, drive-on car access allowed), one green screen cyc stage (15′ x 15′ x 15′) and one colored backdrop shooting space. The studio also features a full kitchen, conference room, hair & makeup / wardrobe area, green rooms, a multi-media/podcast room, full bathrooms, outdoor space and designated on-site parking.

The opening marks a significant milestone for Interwoven Studios. Already, the new space has welcomed renowned brands like Apple and Dior, A-list creatives like photographer Alana O’Herily and creative director David Martins and top-tier talent like movie star Anya Taylor-Joy.

For Chance Horky and Harrison Sheinberg, the lifelong Angelenos and kindergarten classmates who co-founded the company, Interwoven Studios’ new Culver City location marks the start of a new chapter for the young brand and the growing community of LA creatives that it is empowering.

The Genesis of An Idea

Rewinding to 2020, amidst the ever-extending COVID-19 lockdowns, friends Chance Horky and Harrison Sheinberg found themselves engaged in bi-weekly, late-night Zoom calls. These virtual gatherings were more than casual social interactions; they were planning meetings to lay the foundation for a unique production concept/community the pair would come to call “Interwoven.”

The inspiration behind Interwoven stemmed from Horky and Sheinberg’s observations of how the pandemic was reshaping the entertainment landscape for freelance professionals.

As the pandemic unfolded, platforms like TikTok and IG Reels surged in popularity, transforming social media into a video-centric realm where brands and advertisers could access consumers 24/7 through bite-sized consumable content. This transformation was leading the branded content industry to explode, creating new production opportunities for professional freelancers within film and photo.

However, concurrently, Horky and Sheinberg observed a different narrative unfolding within film and TV, where COVID-19 restrictions forced many of the pair’s freelance friends to sit idly by as their productions were halted and people were called off set.

It was at this intersection, where the possibilities created by branded content converged with the challenges presented by traditional film and tv, that Horky and Sheinberg saw an opportunity and set out to create Interwoven, a production community that could connect their sidelined film and TV friends with new opportunities in branded content.

Bringing the Community IRL

As the pandemic persisted, Horky and Sheinberg’s late-night brainstorming sessions evolved into a full-time commitment. The upstart Interwoven community was growing, and it was connecting more and more freelance creatives to new opportunities within branded production.

Soon, as word of mouth expanded Interwoven’s community further, the community stretched to reach not only local creative friends and mom-and-pop businesses, but also hot emerging brands like Sweetfin or Dream Pops, and VIP celebrity clients like Maria Shriver or Kyle Kuzma.

Quickly, it became clear to Horky and Sheinberg that the company’s exclusively online, digitally-connected community would benefit by having a shared space to come together. To accomplish this goal, the duo envisioned a physical space where production professionals could meet, push projects forward and explore their creativity.

The MIRACLE MILE Studio

It was Sheinberg who launched the company forward into the “IRL” when he secured a six-month trial lease to a 600 square feet space on LA’s Wilshire Boulevard.

It would become Interwoven’s first physical meeting space, a small production studio dedicated to housing the creative projects the company’s community members were already working on. The move led Interwoven to reposition itself, renaming the company to its current name, Interwoven Studios.

The new space, dubbed “Interwoven Studios | MIRACLE MILE,” quickly gained popularity, and soon the studio was playing host to an extended group of LA creatives far beyond the original Interwoven community.

Offering a unique blend of accessibility, affordability, and luxury, the MIRACLE MILE studio launched Interwoven’s community to new heights, blossoming it to encompass clients like Meta, Makeup by Mario, L’Officiel, La Roux, and the SCOUT Model Agency, among others.

Expanding the Community

Several months into the success of Miracle Mile, a chance encounter on LinkedIn set the stage for the next phase of Interwoven’s journey. While scanning LinkedIn one evening, Chance Horky came across a post by Sean Beddoe, founder and president of Bow West Capital, a local real estate investment and development fund. Beddoe was seeking an experienced studio management team for a project in Culver City.

After presenting their vision to Bow West Capital and showcasing Miracle Mile’s expanding community as a case study, Interwoven struck a partnership with Bow West to establish a new creative facility at Bow West’s La Cienega Place creative campus.

Now complete, the new Interwoven Studios | CULVER CITY location stands as a testament to the pandemic vision of co-founders Horky and Sheinberg. What started as a way to bring opportunity to those locked-down during COVID-19 has expanded to include some of the LA’s hottest up-and-coming creatives and some of the world’s most recognizable brands.

When asked to reflect on their ‘Interwoven journey,’ Sheinberg and Horky share that, while they are wholly focused on the here and the now at Culver City, working to cultivate and enrich their expanding Interwoven community there, they do have plans for continued expansion to additional locations in LA, including DTLA, Hollywood, Santa Monica and the South Bay.
