Author Rick Riordan has crafted another chapter in the saga of Percy Jackson and his adventures as the 12-year-old water-wizarding demigod son of Poseidon. Tonight, Riordan presents The Lost Hero (Hyperion, $18.99), book one of “The Heroes of Olympus,” the new series featuring Jackson, Camp Half-Blood, all the old demigods and all the new villains. The new series' theme — forgetting one's own power — resembles the previous one — not realizing one's own power, so expect a similar thrill ride through mythology and the other enduring concepts Riordan seems so adept at popularizing in print on a surprisingly regular basis. And just when you'd gotten over Manhattan being attacked by the Titan Kronos, rest assured there's a whole other cycle of spectacle on tap. I wonder what Joseph Campbell — or Heinrich Heine — would think.
