Single-Car Accident near Old River Road Left 20-Year-Old Bakersfield Man Dead

BAKERSFIELD, CA (February 26, 2024) – Early Tuesday morning, a car crash involving a single vehicle on Ming Avenue took the life of Gustavo Angel.

The fatal accident occurred around 4:38 a.m. at the intersection of Ming Avenue and Old River Road.

According to law enforcement, a vehicle veered off the road for unknown reasons and collided with a tree.

First responders on the scene declared the driver deceased. Simultaneously, the passenger was transported to a nearby hospital for the treatment of minor injuries.

Subsequently, the Kern County Sheriff’s Office identified the deceased driver as 20-year-old Gustavo Angel of Bakersfield.

Authorities suspect that speed and impairment may have contributed to the incident. Additional information about the fatal crash will be provided by Bakersfield Officials once available.

A portion of the roadway was temporarily shut down to allow for cleanup and preliminary duties but has since been reopened.
