49-Year-Old Man Pronounced Dead after Head-On Collision near Worsley Road

DESERT HOT SPRINGS, CA (June 30, 2023) – Wednesday, Gildardo Gonzalez Luna was killed in a 2-car accident on North Indian Canyon Drive.

Authorities responded to the scene around 2:41 p.m., just east of Worsley Road.

Per reports, the driver of a 2013 Ford Fiesta crossed the solid double yellow lines while heading west. As a result, the Ford struck an oncoming 2007 Honda Civic head-on.

First responders arrived and pronounced the driver of the Honda dead at the scene. The Riverside County Coroner’s Office identified the deceased victim as 49-year-old Luna of Stockdale, North Carolina.

Meanwhile, paramedics rushed the 42-year-old male Ford driver from Victorville to Desert Regional Medical Center with major injuries. The Victorville man was later arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence.

At this time, the California Highway Patrol Indio unit is leading the investigation.
