Fans paid tribute at Ozzy Osbourne’s Hollywood Walk of Fame star on July 22, following the announcement of his death at age 76. Born John Michael Osbourne in Birmingham in 1948, he rose to fame in the late 1960s as the pioneering frontman of Black Sabbath, helping shape heavy metal with tracks like “Paranoid,” “War Pigs,” and “Iron Man.” His iconic stage presence and true rock ‘n’ roll persona earned him the enduring nickname “Prince of Darkness.”

After getting kicked out of Black Sabbath in 1979, Ozzy launched a hugely successful solo career starting with the 1980 album Blizzard of Ozz, featuring classics such as “Crazy Train” and “Mr. Crowley.” He released 13 studio albums in total.

In 2002, he and his family starred in MTV’s reality series “The Osbournes,” which introduced him to a new generation and became a cultural phenomenon. Despite longstanding health struggles — including Parkinson’s disease, emphysema, and complications from a 2003 ATV crash — he was able to give a final performance with Black Sabbath on July 5 in Birmingham.

His family’s announcement described him passing “surrounded by love” on the morning of July 22, 2025.
