29-Year-Old Woman Pronounced Dead after Two-Car Collision near Dennison Lane

BAKERSFIELD, CA (February 22, 2024) Gabriel Coronel and Brayden Aragon was arrested Saturday morning after a fatal car collision on Pioneer Drive. Police officers responded to the scene around 1:35 p.m., near Dennison Lane.

According to reports, the operator of a westbound 2017 Chevrolet swerved to the left, crossing over the solid double yellow lines. Subsequently, the Chevrolet collided head-on with a 2015 Honda traveling in the eastbound direction on Pioneer Drive.

Upon arrival, first responders pronounced a 29-year-old female passenger of the Honda deceased at the scene. Simultaneously, the Honda driver, 29-year-old Aragon, and another passenger were transported to Kern Medical with unspecified injuries.

Emergency crews blocked both the eastbound and westbound lanes of the roadway. In the aftermath of the crash, law enforcement detained the Chevrolet driver, 33-year-old Gabriel Coronel, on charges of felony DUI and gross vehicular manslaughter. Aragon was also taken into custody, facing misdemeanor charges related to driving under the influence of alcohol.
