In 2023, Douglass High also know as Moda embarked on a transformative journey with the launch of the Modapit project, a musical endeavor that would propel him from anonymity to stardom in a mere year. It all began with the release of his debut album under Thrive Music/Virgin, a subsidiary of Universal Music Group. Accompanied by a captivating short film that brought his songs to life, the album marked Moda’s official entry into the music scene.
What set Modapit apart from other projects was its initial anonymity. For a year, Moda operated under the moniker “Moda,” with no public identity beyond his music. This anonymity, coupled with the immersive experience of his music and visuals, created a sense of mystery and intrigue that captivated audiences.
The debut of the album was a turning point for Moda. It not only showcased his musical talent but also opened doors to new opportunities. Securing booking agents at Wasserman was a game-changer, leading to performances at major festivals such as EDC Las Vegas, EDC Orlando, Freaky Deaky TX, and Imagine Music Festival. These festivals provided Moda with a platform to showcase his music to thousands of fans and marked the beginning of his meteoric rise in the music industry.
One of the highlights of Moda’s journey in 2023 was his first international show in Montreal, a milestone that further solidified his presence in the global music scene. The year culminated in a spectacular New Year’s show at Countdown NYE in San Bernadino, CA, where Moda performed in front of over 10,000 people, cementing his status as a rising star in the electronic music world.
Central to the success of the Modapit project was its innovative use of video content. From the outset, Moda recognized the power of visual storytelling and its ability to connect with audiences on a deeper level. By consistently producing high-quality video content, Moda was able to grow his YouTube channel exponentially, seeing a lot of new engagement and love from fans.
