Fig & Olive, which recently opened in the former Republic (or Bliss) space at La Cienega and Melrose, kicks off its lunch service today.

Weekdays from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., the mega-Mediterranean olive oil haven now offers a menu of “French Riviera-inspired items” (we love press release-speak!) from exec chef Pascal Lorange. Crostini, zucchini carpaccio, pasta, salads, paninis and grilled items like branzino with figs and snow peas. You can eat it on the newly opened outdoor café-bakery facing Melrose Place. There's also a jazz brunch that kicks off this weekend.

The brunch menu, served Saturdays and Sundays from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., will feature assorted breads and viennoiseries by pastry chef Andrew LeStourgeon as well as market-to-table items like herb omelets and fig and walnut pancakes. Sundays, it comes with live jazz music.
