51-Year-Old Man Pronounced Dead after Pedestrian Collision near Banner Drive

LONG BEACH, CA (October 10, 2023) – Friday evening, a hit-and-run incident claimed the life of Felix Castro on Orange Avenue.

Law enforcement officers rushed to the location, near the intersection of Orange Ave and Banner Drive, just before 7:10 p.m. According to initial reports, a vehicle struck a pedestrian who was crossing westward outside of a designated crosswalk from the southbound lanes of Orange Avenue.

Upon their arrival, authorities found the victim critically injured and lying in the southbound lanes of Orange Avenue.

The driver responsible for the collision had already fled the scene. Paramedics arrived and pronounced 51-year-old Castro, a resident of Long Beach, dead at the scene.

As of now, no information regarding the identity of the suspect or details about the suspect’s vehicle has been made public. Anyone who witnessed this fatal hit-and-run incident on Orange Avenue is urged to reach out to Detective Kelsey Myers at 562-570-7355.
