KCRW Broadcast #145 for Saturday, December 17, 2011

Fanatics! I am well into the short tour with Dinosaur Jr. The band have been playing excellently and the audiences have been into it! I sit on J's side of the stage, usually on the floor, next the bottom right cabinet of stack #3 and get totally destroyed. We have a few more shows to go and then it's all over for the year.

It also ends up that this is the last show for the year for us on KCRW, as the next two Saturdays will fall on holidays and the station will be on Eclectic 24 mode. How conventional. I know, I am pissed, too. I have so many great Christmas albums I wanted to flex. The Bootsy and Billy Idol ones are the best. Some of you Fanatics may remember that in lieu of being on the radio, I did my own show here at the office for free download. Hmmm . . . .

If you notice — and I am sure you have — there is a lot of Dinosaur Jr. in our show tonight. Since I am in the Dino mode, so too shall you! I hope you don't mind.

Also, I hope you don't mind a double dose of the Beach Boys track “Heroes And Villains.” I have been listening to it a lot lately and wanted to put it on the show again, two times in two weeks. We will get to different tracks from SMiLE next year for sure.

Next year?! I guess that's the case. It will be next year when we are all together again. Let's see, any 2012 resolutions? None that I can think of. I can tell you this much: I have a lot of new jams that I have gotten over the last several months, you know me, I am always looking around, so we will get into all kinds of stuff, new and old in 2012. Other than that, we will hopefully be allowed to carry on as we have been over the last several years now as Engineer X and I creep ever closer to ten years working together. So many years of roasting but we're still rare on the inside!

Jams, Fanatics, tonight, we got 'em. Between all the Dinosaur Jr.-ness of things you will see many of our favorites as well as some of our less frequent visitors and also some interesting firsts. I think it all goes together rather well. I have listened to all the songs in sequence a few times and I think we are ready to present our case to you.

I think you are going to dig this one.

Stay warm and STAY FANATIC!!! –Henry
