The Yeah Fest formerly know as Fuck has announced its summer tour across the Eastern, Southern, and Middle United States, and a little bit of Canada. Bands touring are Matt & Kim, Circle Jerks, Dillinger Four, The Death Set, Monotonix, Dan Deacon, Paint it Black, Team Robespierre, Brother Reade, Crystal Antlers, Brutal Knights, Totally Michael, and Mannequin Men. Also, comedians Reggie Watts, Nick Flanagan and Matt Braunger. And apparently tour and festival co-organizer Keith Morris is going to be dipping his toes into the world of spoken word performance at some stops, which I would gladly pay money to see on its own. (Please, sir, make it interesting! Bad spoken word is sooo bad..)

Monotonix at SXSW

This might seem like a bit of a sausage fest, but I've been assured that, in addition to the 2 or so female musicians on the roster, there will be women on tour working with the Philadelphia art collective Space 1026, who will be making some interactive arty things (I haven't been able to ascertain exactly what, but you can see the collective in action at their site, space1026.com– they were just featured in ReadyMade Magazine), and the New Left book publishing outfit Microcsim Publishing is sacrificing a lady or two to the tour (check out their manifesto here: microcosmpublishing.com/manifesto/dec2003/), and the tour photographer is a lady, etc.

There are additional intriguing elements, like the pop politicos at Campaign for Burma are on board (uscampaignforburma.org), and tables will be set up at every show to register voters (which is fantastic because this year, it actually will make a historical difference if a bunch of kids are registered to vote). Also, their 44 person bus will be running on vegetable oil… Basically these boys have it cornered artistically, intellectually, and politically. Movers and shakers.
