Calendar: Delicious Dishes with Jet and Ali Tila

August 8, 2019

6-8 p.m.

A Special Cooking Demonstration, Dinner, and Meet-and-Greet at The Huntington Library, Art Collections, and Botanical Gardens

Great cooking starts with mastering a few fundamental techniques, and Jet and Ali Tila’s latest book, 101 Epic Dishes, rounds up the most essential recipes for building a solid foundation. In addition to tried and true recipes, the book includes great chef tips like the secret to cooking ceviche in thirty minutes, how to emulsify hummus to achieve the perfect creamy texture, the best pan and technique for deep browning your vegetables, and substitutions worth testing to customize each dish to your palette.

Meet Team Tila, get a signed copy of 101 Epic Dishes, and taste five items from their book. See the chefs in action as they demonstrate two recipes, then mingle and meet the Tilas during the reception. Guests will taste rock fish ceviche tostadas, pan-seared duck breast with blackberry gastrique, salted caramel budino, and more.

Jet Tila is a celebrity chef/TV personality and the author of 101 Asian Dishes You Need to Cook Before You Die. He has appeared as a cohost on Iron Chef America, as a judge on Cutthroat Kitchen and on Today, Chopped, and Beat Bobby Flay. As Jet’s wife and business partner, co-author Ali Tila brings 15 years of pastry and teaching experience to the team. She has appeared on Guy’s Grocery Games and Cutthroat Kitchen.
