Driver and 15-Year-Old Passenger Pronounced Dead after Single-Vehicle Rollover Crash near Miles

RUNNELS COUNTY, TX (February 26, 2024)Ernest Joe Rose III and a teenager died Saturday afternoon in a rollover collision on Farm-to-Market Road 3115. The incident occurred at approximately 2:30 p.m., about 15 miles north of Miles on February 17th.

The Texas Department of Public Safety concluded that Rose III, 27 years old, was operating a southbound Ford SUV when he veered off the road. He attempted to return to the lanes but lost control, resulting in the vehicle skidding out and overturning.

In the midst of the incident, both Rose III and his 15-year-old passenger were ejected onto the road.

According to investigators, neither occupant had secured their seat belts. Upon the arrival of emergency crews, Rose III and the teenage passenger were declared deceased at the scene.
