Updated at the bottom with one more checkpoint. First posted at 9:03 a.m.
Los Angeles is going through a sweltering heat wave, and all you want to do is quench your thirst this weekend.
Well, keep it cool people.
The LAPD is bringing more heat. The department is continuing with its mission to bust drunk drivers in minority inner-city neighborhoods with a pair of checkpoints and one so-called “saturation patrol.” Here's your cheat sheet for the Aug. 10 weekend:
–Tonight from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. there will be a DUI checkpoint on Broadway between Daly Street and Griffith Avenue in Lincoln Heights.
-Tomorrow (Saturday) there will be a checkpoint from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. on Van Nuys Boulevard between Chase Street and Roscoe Boulevard in beautiful Panorama City.
-And on Sunday police will be out in full force from noon to 8 p.m. in the LAPD's 77th Street Division area of South L.A.
[Update at 4:49 p.m.]: The LAPD today added this checkpoint to its list of weekend activities:
–Saturday from 8 p.m. to 3 a.m. police will be checking drivers at Cahuenga Boulevard and Broadlawn Drive in the Universal City area.
