Seems it was only a week ago that we were lamenting the end of the Friday-night Calling All Kids weekly at Silver Lake's Hyperion Tavern.

The free event was run by Anticon Records label manager Shaun Koplow and Dublab/Alpha Pup dude Matthewdavid.

It also featured some impressive DJ cameos (Money Mark, Dâm-Funk) and intimate performances (Nite Jewel, Daedelus).

Thankfully, the greater Dublab crew, as if they needed more to do, is snatching up the mantle starting this Friday.

Head Labrat Mark “Frosty” McNeill has just announced the Dublab Weekly Sound Expansion, and as should be expected, it's a doozy, comprising a rotating five-night schedule involving cassettes, wax, film and more.

The first Friday of every month, which includes tomorrow, will host “Let Him In,” a night of acid house and Ital-disco starring DJs/producers Ale, Greenbean, SFV Acid and Suzanne Kraft.

For each second Friday, Frosty and Matthewdavid are reprising “Top Tape,” the all-cassette night that they tried out in March.

Third Fridays will be taken over by the My Hollow Drum collective, which includes L.A. beat scene luminary Teebs.

Fourth Fridays are “Compendium,” featuring funk, soul and international pop from Danny Holloway and Shania D.

And finally, when applicable, the fifth Friday of the month will be “Shadows,” a “goth and darkwave film and music night.” Huzzah!
