Event Pick Yes, Pride Month is long past, but this event “for the community by the community” serves to remind Angelenos that celebration of equality and love shouldn’t be relegated to one particular (often performative) month. With anti-queer groups and legislation mobilizing more than ever, happenings like DTLA Proud continue to be needed. Headquartered at Gloria Molina Grand Park, the event offers three days and nights of activism and visibility, all within a party-like atmosphere.

Friday night, there’s a Love Fest for all ages going from 4 p.m.- 10 p.m. with an array of performances from the worlds of drag and dance. The next two days get saucier, with the always-raging Summertramp waterpark affair featuring a stellar slew of DJs and performers.

The Run Block Party, two blocks down from the Grand event at S. Broadway & W. 3rd St (in-front of Grand Central Market, Precinct and 10 DTLA) will also feature LGBTQ+ gatherings, with dozens of queer vendors, arts and crafts, and art installations, plus a Community Stage with lots of entertainment. Fri.-Sun., Aug. 25-27. Run Block Party is free. Get free Love Fest tickets and/or $20 Summertramp passes here.
