One Pronounced Dead after Three-Vehicle Collision near Biosphere 2

TUCSON, AZ (March 21, 2024) – One driver died late Monday morning in a fiery semi-truck crash on southbound State Route 77. The incident occurred sometime after 11:00 a.m., near Biosphere 2 on March 11th.

Police report that the driver of a semi-truck heading north veered into the southbound lanes and collided with a commercial vehicle. This initial collision caused the semi-truck to overcorrect and hit a passenger vehicle. Subsequently, the large truck overturned and caught fire.

As a result of the severe injuries sustained, one driver was pronounced dead at the scene, though authorities have not disclosed their identity. Paramedics transported another driver to a nearby hospital for additional medical attention.

Emergency responders temporarily closed off the vicinity for cleanup and initial investigative procedures. Once available, further details will be provided about the fatal semi-truck accident on State Route 77.
