88-Year-Old Man Killed in Rear-End Crash near Highway 46

BAKERSFIELD, CA (May 19, 2022) Saturday afternoon, a U-Haul collision on Highway 33 killed 88-year-old Donald Lavern Beith.

The accident took place at the intersection of Highways 33 and Highway 46 around 2:15 p.m., on May 7th.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a U-Haul truck towing a vehicle slammed into the rear of a semi-truck transporting liquified petroleum.

Due to the extent of their injuries, first responders declared the one person dead at the scene. Officials later identified the deceased victim as 88-year-old Beith.

In addition, crews also closed the area for a short time to allow for cleanup and preliminary duties.

Bakersfield Officials are working to identify the circumstances surrounding the crash and are asking anyone with information to call their local offices.
