The annual pre-marathon cyclist “crash” ride is happening this weekend.

And this year it's dedicated to the presidential candidacy of Bernie Sanders.

Don Ward, founder of the ride's organizing group, Wolfpack Hustle, says he's getting no end of shit for naming the event the #Feelthebern Ride. But he means no partisan harm.

“I'm already getting all kinds of comments on it,” he said. “I encourage anyone else to create their own brand for their own candidate.”

Indeed, he says, it's the city that's allowing two-wheeled fanatics to use the Los Angeles Marathon–closed roads for about an hour before runners and others take over. Wolfpack is just helping to get the word out.

“The Mayor's Office made this possible,” Ward said. “Just show up, obey the rules and ride safe.”

Normal rules of the road apply — cyclists will have to wear helmets and have proper lights, Ward said. And, according to the office of Mayor Eric Garcetti, “Any riders who fall behind the pace of the group will be asked to leave the course.”

The ride starts at 5 a.m. Sunday at 4341 Sunset Blvd. and will follow about 15 miles of the 26-mile marathon course.

“It will be an easy pace,” Ward promises.
