Shelled hemp seeds, sometimes referred to as hemp hearts, are used to make hemp seed oil and have a number of health advantages of their own. But despite having a chemical composition that is approximately 85% polyunsaturated fatty acids, it has long been regarded as one of the healthiest oils in the world.

However, before humans realized it was edible and thus healthy, they used it to manufacture varnish and paints until petroleum-based goods supplanted it as their prices dropped. But, as the regulations governing hemp cultivation changed, oil, like many other contemporary applications of hemp, became much more in demand and, as a result, a little bit more expensive.

Although both CBD oil and hemp seed oil are made from hemp, they are two entirely distinct products that come from separate portions of the plant. While hemp seed oil is produced by cold-pressing hemp seeds, CBD oil is produced from other components of the hemp plant, namely CBD-rich flowers and leaves.

What Is Flaxseed Oil?

Manufacturers cold press matured flaxseeds to get the oil, which is then used to make flaxseed oil. It includes alpha-linolenic acid, an omega-3 fatty acid (ALA). Small amounts of the ALA found in flaxseed oil are converted by the body into other fatty acids including docosahexaenoic acid and eicosapentaenoic acid.

Is Flaxseed Oil Superior To Hemp Seed Oil?

On the surface, you may assume that flaxseed oil had the upper hand because it contains far more omega-3 than hemp seed oil. However, as we’ve mentioned, the hemp seed oil is a better alternative overall due to its optimal omega-6 to omega-3 ratio.

Additionally, the omega-3 in flaxseed oil is just the short-chain fatty acid ALA. This means that the majority of the beneficial omega-3 is converted into energy. In contrast, hemp seed oil includes both ALA and SDA, increasing its bioavailability and facilitating easier absorption of all the beneficial components into your body.

As a result, while flaxseed oil has its merits and we definitely wouldn’t advise anyone who is already a fan to stop using it, we’d like to suggest that you give hemp seed oil another go. With science on our side, hemp seed oil is a great option in our opinion. Choose hemp oil and experience the health benefits offered.
