On Thursday, March 14, Umamicatessen will introduce the Residency amidst its layout of specialty food and drink stalls. One part dinner program and one part experimental space, The Residency begins with Micah Wexler, previously chef at the late, lamented Mezze. A native Angeleno, Wexler will dedicate a 10-week dinner series called “Live and Dine in L.A.” to his hometown, with each week representing “the varied neighborhoods, cultures and time periods in Los Angeles.” Wexler's dinner program is $45; wine pairing is an additional $22.50.

Each dinner series with alcohol pairing at the Residency allows for up to 12 guests at a time; each seating is available only by reservation. Announcements on upcoming residents from around the country will be made soon. Expect guest chefs looking into Spanish cuisine, steak or barbecue.

The Residency is the latest Umamicatessen addition to Umami Burger, the Cure, and a Donut, P!GG by Chris Cosentino and the Back Bar located inside the Orpheum Theatre.
