It's the Year of the Tiger and we're not talkin' 'bout immoral putt-putters. So get 4708 off to a roaring start at the 32nd Annual Los Angeles Chinatown Firecracker Run . You don't have to run, or even walk. The sedentary Nite 'n' Day festival features circle painting, which is an oh-so-trendy way of saying “we're all connected,” as participants create a community artwork while sidled up to the likes of Sister Mary Elizabeth, a dim sum chef or a local gang member. Shaking things up will be the Laker Girls, lion dancers, taiko drummers, Latin, Korean and Vietnamese performers, and the traditional lighting of 100,000 firecrackers. Booty-moving activities include races for every ability level: a kiddie run, 5k and 10k runs (Sun.), and 40k and 75k bike rides (Sat.). Courses feature primo L.A. scenery: Chinatown's historic Central Plaza, the periphery of Dodger Stadium, the hills of Elysian Park, Griffith Park, Travel Town and the L.A. River bike path. Longer runs take you to the Rose Bowl, the Arroyo Seco bike path and Descanso Gardens. Proceeds go to the Need2Read Program. Chinatown Central Plaza, 943 N.
