Cinco de Mayo is on this coming Sunday, but some restaurants around town are offering specials in food and drink leading up to the day Mexico gained victory over the French at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862. We highlighted a few events in town for you to check out what's in store over the next few days and mark your calendars accordingly. In alphabetical order:

Burger Lounge:

This Sunday, May 5, Burger Lounge is introducing a special, a grass-fed lamb burger with Asadero cheese, jalapeño relish and tomatillo-green chile mayo, at all of its locations in Los Angeles and San Diego. Calle Tacos:

From 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday, May 5, Calle Tacos is hosting a daytime event with its signature magaritas and live music provided by Diego D-Rock Drums and DJ Herrick Hell. A photo booth will be set up on-site. 6508 Hollywood Blvd., Los Angeles.

Mission Cantina:

It's an all-weekend party at Mission Cantina on Saturday and Sunday, May 4-5, from noon to 2 a.m. with a mariachi band, drink specials, and giveaways. 5946 W. Sunset Blvd., Los Angeles; (323) 469-3130

Plan Check:

Ernesto Uchimura's gastropub on Sawtelle is running two tequila flight specials this week, April 29 to May 5; both the Herradura at $12 and Siete Leguas at $20 will include a blanco (white, un-aged), a reposado (rested, aged for at least two months), and an anejo (aged for a year minimum). There will also be a burger special, the Cheeseburger Machismo, made with habanero cheese, bacon, spicy mayonnaise, fried onions, and jalapeño escabeche for $13. 1800 Sawtelle Blvd., Los Angeles; (310) 288-6500

The Mixing Room:

On Saturday and Sunday, May 4-5, the JW Marriot restaurant will feature made-to-order burrito and taco stations as well as a nacho bar, chocolate tamales, tequlia tastings, and specialty cocktails over the weekend. Tinhorn Flats Saloon & Grill:

In honor of Cinco de Mayo, Tinhorn Flats will offer quesadillas and dollar tacos all day on Sunday, May 5, along with $4 margaritas as well as Corona, Corona Light, and Dos Equis at $3 each. 1724 N. Highland Ave., Los Angeles.

Windows Lounge:

The bar menu at Windows Lounge at Four Seasons Los Angeles will feature specials in food and drink, among them a Dungeness crab tostada, churros, and crispy chicken taquitos over the weekend this coming Saturday and Sunday, May 4-5. 300 S. Doheny Dr., Los Angeles; (310) 273-2222.
