53-Year-Old Woman Dies in Traffic Accident near Sequoia Drive

BAKERSFIELD, CA (November 9, 2023) – On Wednesday evening, a single-vehicle crash near Sequoia Drive claimed the life of Christina Rubio.

The California Highway Patrol stated that the incident happened on November 1st just after 9:30 p.m. near Roberts Lane and Sequoia Drive.

Investigation showed that a 2002 Ford driven by a 39-year-old man, with his passenger 53-year-old Rubio, headed southbound on Sequoia Drive, turning eastbound Roberts Lane, and made an unsafe turn.

Furthermore, the Ford struck a concrete curb and caused it to overturn, ejecting Rubio due to not wearing a seatbelt, and resulting in injuries to both occupants.

Unfortunately, Rubio suffered life-threatening injuries which she later succumbed to and passed away.

Meanwhile, the driver was wearing his seatbelt and sustained only minor wounds.

Alcohol or drugs were not suspected as a factor in the incident, and the crash is still under investigation. Witnesses are urged to call CHP Bakersfield at 661-396-6600.
