Dennis RomeroThe story of the Inland Empire grandmother allegedly caught wheeling body parts down the street in a trash can the other day only gets stranger.
As we told you, the woman was spotted carting the can down the street in Ontario. Neighbors alerted authorities not only because the thing smelled like death times a hundred, but because she was also apparently asking for people to help her.
Now Carmen Montelongo's (we had her at Montenegro originally, but apparently she has at least one alias) two adult children, Daniel Ortiz, 25, and Chanel Alicia Ortiz, 26, have been arrested as accessories in what they say is murder.
As it turns out, the parts belonged to one Samuel Wiggins Jr., 63, of Diamond Bar.
Some of them were found right here in L.A. County, in Bell Gardens, in two large flower pots at a home in the in the 6000 block of Foster Bridge Road, according to a San Bernardino County coroner's statement.
There's also a crime scene at the man's Diamond Bar home in the 23700 block of Meadow Fall Drive.
The trash can carting allegedly happened at yet another location, at H Street and Holmes Avenue in Ontario. News reports indicated that Montelongo once lived at a house in the neighborhood, at a relative's residence in the 700 block of North Holmes Avenue.
Cops say the son “delivered” the parts to the Bell Gardens home, according to the San Bernardino Sun.
The paper says the grandma allegedly dug up the parts at the Holmes Avenue residence with the help of a day laborer before the carting incident Sunday.
She allegedly dug holes for the parts and told people it was a “gardening project.”
Montelongo was due in court today.
