The bad girl of OnlyFans is banned. What is she up to now?
It’s been over a week since Bonnie Blue was banned from OnlyFans. The adults-only platform gave the content creator the boot over her controversial “petting zoo” stunt. The adult entertainer intended to stage a stunt in which she would be tied up in a glass box and would allow paying customers to do whatever they wanted to her. The public uproar resulting from her intended stunt caused OnlyFans to determine that Blue violated the terms of use she agreed to as a content creator, and her account was shut down.
At the time her account was shut down, Blue was bringing in monthly sums in the millions. Losing her OnlyFans account was a significant financial loss, and recovering from that loss is a tall order. It was only a matter of time before Bonnie Blue found another place to show up as a content creator, and it looks as though she’s done that.
Blue is currently active on multiple low-payoff sites that resemble Omegle, a text and video chat service that allows users to connect anonymously with models. Where Blue used to charge premium prices for carefully curated content she’d created, she’s now chatting with strangers. Chatting on these sites means that Blue is likely talking in real time with users about anything from her sex stunts to current politics in the UK.
Bonnie Blue isn’t the first content creator to find herself suddenly banned from OnlyFans. OnlyFans is getting stricter about what is and isn’t acceptable under their terms of use, leaving multiple creators who relied on stunts looking for a place to go.
The general consensus seems to suggest that Web3 is where many of these content creators are choosing to show up. Simply put, Web3 is an alternative form of cryptocurrency-based platform. It allows users to have full control over their digital assets and data and enables them to monetize these as they see fit. It is also a decentralized system that relies on blockchain technology, which means that users operate without any kind of central authority monitoring their content. Web3 operates on a token system that incentivizes participation, rewards contribution, and allows users to represent ownership of their digital assets.
While the allure of a network that operates without a centralized authority monitoring activity might be attractive to creators who have been banned from OnlyFans, there is reason to be concerned. The opportunity for growth on a fully decentralized platform presents the hazard of unregulated users causing harm to others. Decentralized platforms make it much easier for underage creators to slip under the radar, as well as for users who are looking to pay to see content from underage creators.
Bonnie Blue may not be done shocking the world just yet. Still, we can hope that her next move will be one that is thought out more carefully than the planned stunt that got her banned from OnlyFans.
