Whether you're jetting to Paris or Phuket, there's a wide selection of books for travelers — or L.A. denizens with a critical case of wanderlust — at independent bookstore Traveler's Bookcase. And it's not just your typical Fodor's or Lonely Planet guide that fills this frequent flier's library. There are oversized Taschen tomes that capture Berlin and London, among other cities, in gorgeous photographs. The shop, which opened in 1991, also offers numerous travel accessories, including universal plug adaptors and fashionable yet practical totes. Even if you want to explore your own hometown, there is a well-stocked section covering the City of Angels. If those aren't reasons enough to check out this bookshop, the staff can provide lots of travel advice, and co-owner Natalie Compagno has been to more than 75 countries. 8375 W. Third St., Mid-City. (323) 655-0575, travelbooks.com.
