Until recently, your best bet for coffee in the Arcadia area of the San Gabriel Valley has been limited to the excellent ca phe sua da (Vietnamese iced coffee) at Fresh Roast; sometimes, though, it's just a simple, no-frills cappuccino that you need. Enter Taza, billed as “A Social Coffee House,” a cozy specialty coffee shop not far from Din Tai Fung, which is as interested in making good coffee as you are in finding it. It's probably the only place in the area where you'll regularly find beans from Heart Coffee Roasters or Handsome Coffee Roasters in the grinder, and where you can ask for your coffee to be brewed in anything from a pour-over cone to a Belgium balancing siphon brewer. As if that weren't good enough, weekends bring flaky croissants stuffed with Spam, pretzel buns and other treats from Sugar Bloom bakeshop pastry chef Sharon Wang. 11 W. Huntington Drive, Arcadia.
