The American Cinematheque’s partnership with the Consulate General of Belgium in Los Angeles has resulted in a number of great screenings (Almayer’s Folly especially) followed by beer receptions. With any luck, the Belgian Shorts Program will live up to that high bar. Seven works made in the last two years are scheduled, with subject matter ranging from a nurse taking care of a dying racist to two brothers fighting over who gets to play with the rifle their late grandfather left behind.
